Firehouse World news
Firehouse World's commitment to the fire service was evident in the five days of top-quality hands-on training, preconference, and conference classes as well as 327 companies represented on the show floor. A key highlight was the co-location with California State Firefighters' Association (CSFA) 88th Annual Conference and Leadership Summit, along with their training division Fire Service Training Institute (FSTI). Attendees were able to connect with California's largest fire service organization, a strong, united voice in the state. Attendees also had access to the additional classes, workshops and family excursions offered by CSFA. During the Opening Ceremony, Chief Mike Richwine was presented with the 8th Annual CSFA Training Officer of the Year Award. Richwine, Division Chief of State Fire Training, CA State Fire Marshall's Office, has over 25 years experience in the fire service and currently oversees an office and field staff serving all of the California fire service. CSFA and East Los Angeles College teamed up to provide CEU credits for all fire service classes. These were free to all California residents. Additional CEU credits were available and certified through CECBEMS for those who attended the EMS classes provided by EMS at Firehouse World. The Firehouse Experts Desk gave attendees a chance to meet one-on-one with instructors. Attendees were encouraged to bring real-life questions to the desk and get pertinent information that they could bring back to their department. The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) promoted their Heart-Healthy Firefighters Program. They offered attendees a free cholesterol screening, a fun and energetic fitness challenge using Wii Fit, plus valuable resources to help succeed in getting and staying heart-healthy. Strong attendance, valuable education and unmatched purchasing opportunities continue to make Firehouse World a leader in providing today's firefighters with what they need to succeed. It is the largest gathering of industry professionals on the West Coast and the number one place to learn and excel in today's competitive environment. |
