Monday Hands-On Training

All hands-on training classes have a pre-requisite training requirement.

Registrants must be at least 18 years of age and must submit a copy of your NFPA 1001 Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications / Fire Fighter 1 completion card/certificate (minimum requirement, may send certificates that exceed FF1), or state/national professional qualifications certificate, or notarized letter from FD Chief that attests to completion of such training must be faxed to 952.225.0511 or emailed to HotCertificate@FirehouseWorld.com at time of registration.

Meets the annual OSHA drill requirement.

This program has been presented to numerous Fire Departments to complete their OSHA mandated annual drill requirements. The program has been well received as it provides classroom information of case histories and tactical priorities followed by real world hands on experience in confined space rescue operations. The program focuses on time tested and proven techniques with additional emphasis on newer technology equipment to improve operations. The target audience for this program is first line firefighters to Chief Officers with the greatest advantage being those who may operate in tactical operations at a confined space incident. Previous confined space rescue training is desirable.

2-day, 16-hour class

Emergency Vehicle Operations (FSTEP State of CA) is designed to provide information and skills training for students preparing to certify to operate Emergency Vehicles. Topics include: applicable laws, defensive driving techniques, apparatus placement, basic inspection and maintenance. There will be ten - NFPA Approved cone courses for students to master their driving skills. Each student will also have the opportunity to increase his or her driving skills during simulated driving conditions. The class also reviews case studies of fire service accidents and near misses. Whether you are a professional firefighter, a volunteer firefighter, preparing for an Engineer's Exam or ready to move up to driver operator, this course is a must.

Required: Class B driver's license, NFPA approved boots

High Density Forcible Entry is paramount for safe and efficient fireground operations. This course is designed to provide the students with techniques for "SOFTENING THE STRUCTURE", while providing access and egress points for fireground operations and firefighter safety. This course utilizes "BIG EXITING" as a rule and teaches the concepts of this operation. Students will work through 6 hands-on training stations to build upon and develop skill sets necessary for them to be aggressive and safe on the fireground. Students will be taught both conventional "IRONS" use and "HIGH-DENSITY FORCIBLE ENTRY" operations using a variety of power tools and saw work.

This unique one-day advanced vehicle rescue program is presented by Ron Moore, Battalion Chief in McKinney TX FD and creator of the University of Extrication. Chief Moore has the participants in this HOT program organize into small working crews to accomplish challenging extrication tasks including trunk tunneling, floorboard openings, roof-resting roof removal, and more. State-of-the-art tools are provided by various vendors for use during the program.

Students will perform the basics of fire attack, primary searches, victim rescue, ventilation and RIC evolutions under live fire conditions. In today's fire service there are less fires and unfortunately less training opportunities under realistic conditions. Students will perform multiple bread and butter evolutions critical for success on the fireground. Proper hose handling, use of thermal imaging cameras and putting the "rapid" back in RIC is just a few of the training lessons that will be reinforced. Instructors are CSFM Fire Control 3 certified and have been active instructors in live fire since Firehouse World began in San Diego.
